Dissemination research is the active process by which we investigate the best methods to make target groups aware of, receive, accept and use information and other interventions (Lomas, 1993).

Dissemination research seeks to understand, influence and/or evaluate the process of dissemination.

A critical role of the Dissemination Core is to increase the amount of dissemination research—shifting towards strategies that are active, proactive, interactive and, ultimately, effective.
